Nature in the city

Working with What If: Projects Limited for the London Borough of Havering, the challenge has been to introduce plants around the Romford Ring Road. Inspiration came from the existing trees & wildflowers that are growing on pavements, on the fringes of car parks, along the culvertised River Rom & in amongst people’s gardens. A key element of the project has been working with local residents to develop a scheme for St Edwards Churchyard, the only public green space within the Ring Road. The design, due to be implemented this year, includes orchard planting, areas of long grass & a central open area for community events.
